BBC launches new homepage

The BBC has put up a new homepage (in Beta form) which is the first redesign since 2008. It seems to be very influenced by the iPlayer App and is another indication of websites taking inspiration from the way in which we use tablets.
We’re currently working on our own website redesign following similar principles (in that it works across a range of devices) which will be launched very soon. Regarding the BBC site, it feels a little underdeveloped and the colour coding, which worked well previously seems to have diminished leaving the hierarchy of information somewhat scattershot.
Check it out here. Any thoughts?

BBC asks – Do typefaces really matter?

“To most people, typefaces are pretty insignificant. Yet to their devotees, they are the most important feature of text, giving subliminal messages that can either entice or revolt readers, says Tom de Castella.”
