Six Frame Movies

To coincide with it’s Kick-Ass edition, Little White Lies have just announced the winners of it’s latest creative brief competition – to transform a favourite film into a six panel comic strip. The winner was David Rigby, who cast an ironic eye over the nuances of the film Zombieland although I think that Total Recall by Matt Boyce and The Wicker Man by Hurk (excerpt shown above) are great. See all the winners here.

An excellent ad campaign that the retailer, John Lewis, is currently running in the UK. Kate Forrester, a famous illustrator designed this beautiful campaign. Check out 5 of the 10 here on her blog.

As a taster for the next Creative Forum, here’s a wonderful painting from Jim Kay, an illustrator based in Edinburgh. His site shows more of his drawings, paintings and sketches which, in my opinion are pretty stunning. The next forum, hosted by Jim will be taking place on Friday 27th November at 8.30am, follow the Creative Forum twitter to keep abreast of latest news.

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly

From the book-as-objet-d’art files comes a new version of There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly illustrated by Jeremy Holmes. The entire thing is a large illustration of the titular old lady, and the pages of the book comprise her torso and innards. So each time you turn a page, you’re looking at an x-ray view of the old lady’s stomach contents which, in this case, are delicate collage-style illustration by Mr. Holmes. Thanks to Drawn!
