Here’s a little sting I’ve made, experimenting with new plug-ins we’ve got here in Multimedia. It was done with 3DS max and the plug-in Particle flow box 2 and put together in After Effects.

I have to admit, when I first saw the More4 rebrand visuals a few weeks ago I wasn’t overly excited – a nice enough visual mark with some obvious potential for TV and animation. (more…)

Fedex: Making Less Urgent Shipping Awesome

We’ve all seen the domino metaphor used many a time in advertising (remember the excellent Honda Accord advert, which created a domino sequence using various parts of the car?), but this ad for Fedex has a particularly lovely tone. It doesn’t rely solely on the domino idea for visual effect (although it’s strong enough to keep the viewer engaged); it’s a great concept which is right for the message. It’s also got a great soundtrack, timed to perfection, and the sign-off – “We make less urgent shipping to the US awesome” – is brilliant.

3 Dreams of Black

“3 Dreams of Black” is an interactive music video developed in WebGL. Visit the site: www.ro.me. Most of what you see during the experience is not video, but is real-time rendering of visual models through WebGL, a technology that brings hardware-accelerated 3D graphics to the browser. Combined with different live action and 2D-cell render animation assets it gives users a vivid visual and compelling musical experience where a story is told with new and ground breaking technology.

EELS Project: Projection Mapping One Step Further

EELS 3D projection mapping multiplayer game from B-Reel & B-Reel Films on Vimeo.
The EELS project, created by Riccardo Giraldi at B-Reel Films in London, combines a dizzying array of technologies to take projection mapping an interactive step forward. It’s a multiplayer game experience where people can control their virtual EEL projected on a physical installation via an iPad App. It’s a quantum-leap forward from Nokia’s classic ‘Snake’, and I can see big possibilities, not just in the world of gaming, but for interaction, accessibility and communication on a much broader scale.
